I'm an artist, saved by grace, living in mostly sunny Barbados (you can find it a little east of the Caribbean island chain).
My passion for art began many years ago, perhaps before I was even fully aware of it and looking back, I like to think it began from a stubborn determination at a very young age to just colour inside the lines!
My medium of choice is acrylic paints. I first used them around 2006/2007, a year or so after starting out on gouache in art class. I can't pinpoint exactly how I felt about them at the time... I just remember that I was more than happy to finally leave gouache behind. What I do remember was the first time I painted on canvas in 2009. It was THE best experience. I was actually slightly appalled by paper afterwards.
These days, I find myself increasingly drawn to colour: from the physics behind how we see colour to the way colours harmonise. I'm no colour expert (yet!), but I love to work with colour and you'll probably soon become familiar with my colour studies as you spend time around here.
SUNNY SKIES. PALM TREES. DAYS AT THE BEACH.
Dreamy, right? Colour studies aren't the only paintings I like to whip up in my studio. Of late, vibrant blues and greens are scattered around our apartment as I explore certain features of the naturally beautiful landscape of this island I call home.
STUDIO LIFe. the best ASSISTANTS. MESSY HOME.
In the summer of 2015, I married my best friend, who is turning out to make a pretty great sidekick to this art show. He's not very artistically-inclined, but he makes a great editor, packaging assistant and wall for bouncing ideas off! Together, we are raising a beautiful baby girl, whose idea of helping out is throwing my canvases around and eating paper. She's more inclined to mess-making and pretty good at it, too!
So, that's me... If you need me, I'll probably be covered in paint and running around after this way-too-quickly growing baby girl. Don't worry though, the best way to reach me is via e-mail. Leave me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!
